GHS - Our Lives in Lockdown: 30th March - The Launch!

Monday, 30th March - Day 1 of the GHS challenges!

(No pun intended, but I love the rock messages, "Stay safe, save lives!!")

Today we (me, my mum and Kaiya.) Colorued on some rocks from our garden to decorate it.We wrote messages and drew pictures.

Lockdown Disco Night

One night we had a disco. We had glow sticks and a disco light (as you can tell.) We had lots of fun. We danced we sang we had music and had water (stay hydrated people.) As you can see in this picture, I am doing a crazy and weird dance sort of thing. I had a lot of fun at the disco. Have a great day (or night). Stay safe –

This is what I have been up to:

I am training the dog. Floki might become an internet sensation by the time this lockdown is finished - what do you reckon?

You might think this is a bit lame, but trust me, it cost me a considerable amount of duck treats and I even might have become a tiny bit irritable, when I tried to get her to put her feet up on the washing basket and take a photo at the same time.... ;)

Any ideas for other tricks?

I don’t think she likes the hat trick … she doesn’t look very happy ...

Enjoy these pieces by some of our year 5 and 6 ESOL writers. These descriptive texts are inspired by the picture book about an iconic Kiwi summer pastime, The Bomb

As my feet enter the water I can see bubbles all around me. I look up at the surface. Then I move my legs and arms slowly. I see the sky and I can feel an exciting sensation in my body. The sensation is pride.

My feet touch the water. Then my body strikes the water like an eagle. Next my whole body goes into the water and makes a big splashing sound! The water jumps up like a fish swimming away from a shark.

I splashed into the water and I slapped down to the ground and it hurt. I crashed onto my hand and it hurt and hurt. When I got up I was dripping and soaking like a water fountain. I felt really awesome and great. I didn’t care about my hand because the big splash was fun.

I am jumping forward through the air, about to hit the water. It feels like I am soaring through the sky like a bird. Everything is like a blur. The wind sounds like race cars speeding past me. And it was amazing.

I love it, when I dive into the water. It reminds me of a pancake splattered into a pan. It always feels like a slap. I can hear the splashing. Then I dive. Then I jump. You can hear the wave crashing on the shore and I can touch the rocks. It is amazing. I feel like a shooting star.

Thank you to Jessica Williams from room 9 and Isabelle Harfield from room 10 for a fun filled fundraiser with the year 1s!

At Gulf Harbour School we foster and teach leadership skills. It is fantastic to see these skills at work and delightful to see real life outcomes.

Jessica and Isabelle were supported by the Reading Crew, when they planned and carried out a morning of reading games and dress up with our youngest children.  They collected a gold coin donation for the special occasion.

The two girls are very proud to present the new books for our school that they chose and their initiative paid for.
